Being A Certified Nursing Assistant
When you become a certified nursing assistant, you will need to ask yourself a question of what makes a good nursing assistant.
Being a certified nursing assistant requires preparation such as examination preparation and satisfying the licensing requirements and readiness for the challenges ahead.
Now that you have taken the first step to attend a course a test preparation and ready to challenge the Florida State licensing examination or you already passed the test, you need to examine yourself and your personal qualities.
You may use a trait and attitude checklist to see where you stand. Most of the successful Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) have done an inventory of themselves to create a road map to become successful.
You may answer yes or no to the following:
- I am trustworthy, dependable and honest
- I relate easily to new people
- I make friends quickly
- I enjoy working with people
- I get along well with others
- I am sensitive to the feeling of others
- I am considerate and tactful
- I want to help people
- I try to be gracious and polite at all times
- I get satisfaction when serving others
- I show sympathy and patience with others
- I try to control my temper when provoked
- I work the work I am asked to do is important for the patient
- I want to improve my performance as necessary
- I like to learn new things all the time
- I rarely let my private life/issues interfere with my job
- When work is heavy and everyone is stressed out, I try to work a little harder
- I have a good sense of humor
- I exercise regularly or find a way to reduce my stress
- I feel a great sense of satisfaction from helping others who are less able to help themselves
If you answer more yes than no, then you are well way on being an excellent certified nursing assistant.
